Split Payments
Use this page when the reader needs the shared-booking payment flow rather than a standard single-payer checkout.
Who this is for
- hosts creating a booking and inviting others to pay a share
- invited participants opening a payment link
- operators explaining what happens when only some shares get paid
How split payments work
The host creates the booking, selects split payment during checkout, and enters the other participants. The system then sends each participant a unique payment link.
Host flow
Typical host flow:
- create the booking
- choose split payment on the review step
- enter participant phone numbers
- pay the host share
- wait for the other participants to pay through their individual links
Participant flow
Typical participant flow:
- open the invite link
- review the booking summary and their share amount
- complete phone verification if required
- enter payment details
- reach payment confirmation
What makes this flow different
- each participant has an individual payment link
- the booking can be partly paid while other shares remain outstanding
- the host may need to cover unpaid shares later, depending on tenant settings
Timeline and enforcement
Split payments usually operate under a timeline:
- invitation sent
- participants pay
- rescue window may open before start time
- auto-cancel can happen if the unpaid balance is not resolved
Common blockers
- wrong or expired invite link
- phone verification not completed
- only some participants paid, so the booking remains partially paid
- host expects custom share amounts even though the flow uses equal shares
